Budapest
Budapest is an amazing city to visit, beautiful sights, delicious and affordable food, all combined with a walkable layout with plenty to experience.
We started off with the food.
Not quite traditional but we started with Japanese food at Komachi

The food was affordable and delicious, all in small enough portions to accommodate ordering a variety of food. Which we definitely took advantage of! If I had one complaint it was the use of local ingredients created slightly inauthentic food. All in all though a fantastic meal.
I think after all that eating we'd definitily earned desert! Time for a delicious chimney cake! Fun fact, this tasty snack (in some form, probably without the oreo) dates back at least to the middle ages!

That's probably enough food for the time being, shifting to the slightly less edible archetecture of the city we entered the shopping district.

The Christmas time decorations were beautiful, and the Christmas markets were in full swing.ƒ

But it wasn't time for food yet... Instead... I take you to the next morning... where we found more food!

And finally... a little bit of the city.
Heroes' Square is a neat one, it's something you may have seen before in at least one movie, possibly including a car chase, giving it an interesting and somewhat familiar feel.

The walk there from the city center is also worth making, embassies / beautiful homes & hotels lie along the path. (Highlighted in green below). Along with the House of Terror which does a great job of highlighting Hungary's experience with Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union around and after the second world war.

Heading West into the Buda side of the city we visited the Citadella & Castle Hill both give stunning views of the city!

Along with just being a beautiful place to visit on it's own.

Citadella & Castle Hill though are a decent climb, time for a snack, or... maybe in place of a snack a multiple course meal...

Heading north along the river we caught a ground level view of the pedestrian bridge that would normally have taken us back, but at the time was closed.

So we hopped back on our scooters and continued north to the next bridge.
Luckily this brought us a beautiful view of the Hungarian Parliament

Scooters by the way were a fantastic way to get around Budapest, not all of the city allows parking the rental scooters so check first, but bike paths running along the water on both sides provide stunning views and quick, easy, safe, transportation.
Making the last of the night we headed to a ruin pub, including an open air theatre, market & community center during various times of the day. At night though it's more of a colourfully illuminated tourist attraction / place to hang out and chat.

I have more food pictures... I almost considered discluding these but I really can't stress enough, we consistently had amazing food here. A story I'll continue to tell with a couple more photos.

Budapest is a really nice city. If you're coming from a country on the more wealthy side, your currency will likely be worth enough to allow enjoying some fairly nice ammenities. And that combined with a rich history, fantastic natural landscape, and walkable city centre make it a fantastic place to visit as a tourist! Sadly it was time to say goodbye.
